Protein while taking a GLP-1 medicine

Why protein matters when appetite is low on GLP-1 medication, simple ways to fit it in, and how to estimate a daily protein target with our calculator.

Why protein matters

When appetite drops, it is easy to eat far less protein than usual. Adequate protein, together with strength-based activity, helps maintain muscle while losing weight.

Typical targets

General guidance for adults is around 0.75 g of protein per kilogram of body weight per day, and many weight-management programmes suggest more. Your own target depends on your health, kidney function and goals, so check with a dietitian or clinician.

Making it easier

Smaller, protein-first meals, Greek yoghurt, eggs, fish, tofu, lentils and protein drinks can help when large meals feel uncomfortable.

Estimate yours

Use the Levli protein calculator to get a general estimate range, then log your intake in Levli to see how it sits alongside appetite, side effects and weight trend.
