GLP-1 injection site rotation

Why rotating GLP-1 injection sites matters, the usual areas used for weekly pens, and a simple way to keep track of where you injected last.

Why rotate

Injecting into exactly the same spot repeatedly can cause lumps or changes under the skin, which may affect how comfortable injections feel. Patient information for GLP-1 pens advises changing the injection site each time.

The usual areas

Weekly GLP-1 pens are typically injected into the abdomen (away from the belly button), the front of the thigh or the back of the upper arm. Follow the instructions that come with your own pen and the advice of your nurse or pharmacist.

A simple pattern

Many people move clockwise between areas and sides — for example left abdomen, right abdomen, left thigh, right thigh — so each area gets a few weeks of rest. The hard part is remembering where you went last week.

How Levli helps

Levli lets you record the site with each injection, so your last few sites are visible before you inject again. Over time you can also note whether particular sites felt more or less comfortable.
